In February of 2020 there is the opportunity for Explorer Scouts and Network Scouts to go to Kazakhstan and become part of Snow Camp. This would be the second event hosted by Scouts of the Great Steppe.
Accommodation is in log cabin in the forest near the resort of Borovoe in the north of Kazakhstan, some 3 hours drive from Nur-Sultan the capital. The cabins sleep 10 in shared rooms and are equipped with bathrooms and a kitchen.
Meals are local cuisine and served in the on-site restaurant. The cost of £1370 includes insurance, flights, transfer to Borovoe, accommodation, most meals, activities, hotel in Nur-Sultan the capital and city tour. The only items not included would be 1 lunch in Nur-Sultan, Knecker, badge, embroidered trip clothing all to be confirmed.
Activities that may be included are dog sledding, reindeer tracking, fishing under ice, snow shoes in forest, Borovoe tour, sauna, horse trekking, camel ride. And possibly many others.
It may be necessary for participants to buy, borrow or hire some cold weather clothing. A warm day is -25C and a cold one -40C. You shall require, snow boots, down jacket and insulated trousers. These are must haves, a full kit list shall be sent to participants well in advance and shall include other equipment.
The cost of coming is budgeted at £1370, inclusive of flights, accommodation and most meals.
